Frequently Asked Questions
Before Your Session
Everything you need to know before stepping into the studio.
-
Every woman has her own reason.
Some are celebrating a milestone, a birthday, an engagement, or an anniversary. Others are embracing a new chapter after motherhood, divorce, weight loss, or years of putting everyone else first. And some simply want to do something that's completely for them.
No matter what brings you here, one thing is almost always true: this experience is about so much more than beautiful photographs. It's about seeing yourself differently.
At Couture Black, we believe you don't need to change your body or wait for the "perfect" time to celebrate yourself. You deserve to feel confident exactly as you are today.
-
Absolutely. In fact, most of our clients have never done a boudoir session before.
Feeling a little nervous is completely normal, and it's something we expect. That's why every Couture Black experience is fully guided from beginning to end. From professional hair and makeup to posing, expressions, and outfit selection, our team is with you every step of the way.
By the end of the session, most clients tell us they can't believe how comfortable they felt and wish they had done it sooner.
-
Absolutely.
Beauty and confidence don't have an age, a size, or a number attached to them. Our clients come from all walks of life and every stage of life, and every session is customized to celebrate what makes you uniquely you.
Through expert lighting, thoughtful posing, and personalized guidance, we create portraits that highlight your favorite features while helping you see yourself in a whole new way.
-
Not at all.
Boudoir isn't about wearing something you wouldn't normally choose. It's about feeling confident in whatever makes you feel like yourself.
Some clients wear beautiful lingerie, while others choose an oversized sweater, a favorite concert t-shirt, a cozy cardigan, their partner's button-down shirt, a fitted bodysuit, or even the elegance of sheets. We'll help you choose the outfits that photograph beautifully while reflecting your personality and comfort level.
-
We recommend bringing three to five outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable.
Choose pieces that fit well, show your shape, and allow you to move easily. A mix of lingerie, bodysuits, sweaters, jackets, or meaningful personal items creates beautiful variety throughout your session.
Once you've reserved your date, you'll receive our 34-page Boudoir Preparation Guide, filled with wardrobe inspiration, preparation tips, and everything you need to know before your session. And if you still have questions, we're always just a phone call, text, or email away.

Session Day
Relax. We've got you from the moment you walk through our doors.
-
Perfect. That's exactly how most of our clients feel.
You don't need any modeling experience or know a single pose before you arrive. Our team will guide you through every expression, every movement, and every pose, making small adjustments all the way down to your fingertips.
We'll even demonstrate poses when needed, so you'll never have to wonder what to do next. Your only job is to relax, trust the process, and enjoy the experience.
-
Your session is designed to be unhurried.
Plan on spending approximately 3 to 4 hours with us, allowing plenty of time to enjoy every part of your experience. The day includes professional hair and makeup, wardrobe selection, multiple outfit changes, your fully guided photo session, and a variety of sets and poses.
We never rush the process because creating beautiful portraits starts with making you feel comfortable.
-
Every body tells a story, and how that story is told is entirely your choice.
Temporary blemishes like stress breakouts are routinely retouched on your final portraits. Scars, stretch marks, and other permanent features are never removed unless you ask us to.
Whether you choose to celebrate every part of your journey or prefer a little extra retouching, we'll honor your wishes. Our editing is always tasteful, natural, and based on what makes you feel your best.
-
Only if you want them to be.
Your privacy is one of our highest priorities. Every image from your session remains completely confidential unless you give us written permission to share it.
Many of the portraits you see on our website and social media were shared because those clients wanted to inspire other women to celebrate themselves. If you'd prefer your session remain completely private, we fully respect that decision.
-
We completely understand wanting a little extra moral support, especially if this is your first boudoir experience.
Our studio is intentionally designed as a private, intimate space, and we don't have room to comfortably accommodate additional guests during your session. More importantly, this day is about you. We want all of our attention focused on making you feel comfortable, confident, and completely taken care of.
If someone is driving you to the studio, they're welcome to wait in the building while you're with us.
If you have any questions or concerns about coming to your session alone, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're happy to talk through them with you.
-
Occasionally, yes. There may be another client having their hair and makeup completed when you arrive or as you're getting ready.
Your privacy and comfort are incredibly important to us. Our studio has been thoughtfully designed so clients remain private and are never on display. Throughout your experience, you'll only be seen by our team, and you'll never be asked to share your session space with another client.
We work hard to ensure every client enjoys a comfortable, discreet, and personalized luxury boudoir experience from beginning to end.
What if I don't know how to pose?
How long does the experience last?
What if I have scars, stretch marks, or blemishes?
Will my images be shared?
Can I bring someone with me?
Will there be other clients at the studio during my session?
After Your Session
Your portraits are just the beginning.
-
A few weeks after your session, you'll return to the studio for your Image Premiere, one of the most exciting moments of the entire Couture Black experience.
You'll see your portraits for the very first time in a personalized slideshow before viewing each image individually. Together, we'll select your favorite portraits and design the artwork that's perfect for you, whether that's a handcrafted album, stunning wall art, a fine art collection, or digital portraits.
For many women, this is the moment everything becomes real.
-
Your session fee reserves your luxury boudoir experience. Portraits and artwork are selected separately during your Image Premiere, allowing you to choose the collection that best fits your vision.
We offer handcrafted albums, beautiful wall art, fine art collections, and digital portrait collections designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
Flexible, interest-free payment plans are available for every order, making it easy to invest in the artwork you love.
-
Your portraits deserve more than a life on your phone.
We offer a carefully curated selection of heirloom artwork, including custom-designed luxe albums, museum-quality wall art, fine art collections, and high-resolution digital portraits. Every piece is thoughtfully crafted to preserve your memories and celebrate your experience for years to come.
